welding rod

1. Notes

(1) Electrode storage Note that the warehouse should be ventilated and dry, and the relative humidity of the air should be controlled below 60%. Keep the distance between the ground and the wall at a distance of 30cm.

(2) Separate the model and specifications and store them.

(3) During the handling and stacking process, be careful not to damage the coating. For welding rods with poor strength of the coating, such as stainless steel welding rods, surfacing welding rods and cast iron welding rods, more attention should be paid. The welding rod code should not be too high.

2. The electrode is affected by moisture

After the electrode is damp, the color of the general coating is deep, the electrode collision loses the crisp metal sound, and some even return the alkali to appear “white flower”.

Influence of wetted welding rod on welding process:

(1) The arc is unstable, the spatter is increased, and the particles are too large.

(2) The penetration is large and easy to bite.

(3) The slag coverage is not good and the welding wave is rough.

(4) It is difficult to remove slag.

Effect of wetted welding rod on welding quality:

(1) It is easy to cause welding cracks and pores, especially for alkaline electrodes.

(2) The values of mechanical properties are easy to be low.

3. Welding rod drying

(1) If the welding rod is stored for a long time, if it is damp, but the welding core is not rusted, the coating does not deteriorate, and after the welding rod is dried, the original performance can be maintained without affecting the use.

(2) The baking temperature should not be too high or too low. When the temperature is low, the water can not be removed; if the temperature is too high, the cracking, crispness, shedding or changes in the composition of the coating may be caused, which may affect the welding quality.

(3) The alkaline electrode after drying should not be exposed for more than 4 hours.

(4) The number of repeated drying of the electrode rod should not be too much, otherwise the peeling of the drug skin may occur.

4. Welding rod scrapping

The core is rusted, the coating adheres, peels off, and is heavily damp (especially low-hydrogen electrode, heat-resistant steel electrode, low-temperature steel electrode). Such electrode can no longer be used and is scrapped.

Welding wire

1. Notes

(1) The welding wire should be placed in a special welding material warehouse for storage. Pay attention to the ventilation and drying of the warehouse. The relative humidity of the air should be controlled below 60%. Keep the distance between the ground and the wall at 30cm.

(2) Separate the model and specifications and store them.

(3) Avoid the littering during the handling process and prevent the packaging from being damaged. Once the package is damaged, it may cause the wire to absorb moisture and rust.

(4) For the barrel welding wire, do not roll during handling, and the container should not be tilted or tilted to avoid the wire entanglement in the cylinder and hinder the use.

(5) The wire size should not be too high.

(6) Under normal circumstances, the flux-cored wire does not need to be dried, and should be used up as soon as possible after opening. When the wire is not used up, it should be covered with a canvas, plastic cloth or other items to cover the wire feeder (or wire spool). To reduce the contact with moisture in the air.

(7) The CO2 used in the flux-cored wire should be pure anhydrous gas.

2. The influence of the welding wire on the damp

The moisture absorption welding wire can increase the diffusion hydrogen content in the deposited metal, and cause defects such as pits and pores, and the welding process performance and the mechanical properties of the weld metal are deteriorated, and the weld seam can be severely cracked.
